Along with offering dogs and cats a new “leash” on life at the Super Adoption weekend, Best Friends Animal Society Pet Adoption Center in New York has helped adoptables find their two-legged best friends since opening its doors in April 2017. Part of the renowned animal welfare organization’s ongoing effort to make the entire country no-kill by 2025, the New York branch of Best Friends is a safe haven for homeless animals who have come from one of nine local and regional nonprofit organizations, as well as the New York Animal Care Centers of NYC (ACC).

Animal Care Centers of NYC offers an amazing adoption package, which includes spaying or neutering, vaccinations, a certificate for a free exam, embedded pre-registered microchip in case your pet ever gets lost and a collar. Dogs also get a leash, dog license and heartworm test while cat adoptions also include FELV/FIV testing and a cardboard cat carrier. The center encourages families to bring their children and dogs to make sure the addition will be a right fit.Little Shelter Animal Rescue & Adoption Center is right outside NYC in Huntington, NY, and it’s the only non-NYC shelter to be included in the Mayor’s Alliance for NYC Animals. All dogs are spayed/neutered before adoption, and Little Shelter has snagged Best of Long Island for eight straight years (2010–2017) in the Best Animal Shelter/Rescue category. He was an emaciated scared little guy, but still managed to have a great rating so he was available for public adoption. This morning, he was reserved by a "member of the public." Again and again, the AC&C PROVES that they do not care about NYC's homeless animals. When will they start employing people that want to help these dogs and cats? When will they start CARING? It's time to clean house, and start hiring real advocates that will make an effort to do more. I think the animals deserve that. Don't you?
