scary beware of dog signs | German Shepherd Signs, Beware of Dog Warning Signs
Beware of dog signs can be posted in many places, including a fenced in warehouse compound with doberman pinschers or german shepherds patrolling the grounds, but, the place that is concerning to a landlord is on the backyard fence of a residential rental.
We have been following the seemingly endless cases of shootings of dogs around the country. The latest is in El Monte, California where the police entered a family’s front yard some nine months ago (passed “Beware of Dog” signs) and fatally shot the family’s 2-year-old German shepherd. There was no imminent crime or exigent circumstance. Police were coming to collect a photograph of the teenage son of Cathy Luu and Chi Nguyen, whom they had previously reported had run away from home (he returned shortly afterward). A video tape shows the officers, Detective Arlen Castillo and then Officer Ken Fraser, open the gate without calling into the house. Fraser actually pets the family’s pit bull on the way in. Then the German shepherd comes out barking at Castillo and Castillo shoots the dog.

German Shepherd Signs, Beware of Dog Warning Signs
The same goes for warning signs. Someone who ignores a prominent "Beware of Dog" sign is probably not going to be able to blame the dog's owner for any injuries. For example, a Maryland delivery man ignored a "Guard Dog on Duty" sign at a warehouse and was bitten by a German shepherd that most definitely was on duty. He sued but lost. A court concluded that he knowingly risked injury. (., 489 A.2d 549 (Md. App. 1985).)Ok, so to me the standard Beware of Dog sign (which usually has an image of a huge crazy eyed, open mouthed, drooling, slobbering dog with teeth big enough to belong to a Tyrannosaurus Rex!) means the dog on the other side of the fence is vicious and like I said, our dogs are not nor do I want to give people the idea that they are. However, the fact that Riley is so protective and that should I have happened to let the dogs out not knowing this kid was in our yard could have also kicked in the pack mentality meaning our two girls (who’ve never given us the idea they’d ever bite) might just have taken Riley’s lead and this kid would have had 220 pounds of protective German Shepherd to deal with! Oh yeah, this could be bad.
