Adoption is a simple process but matching the right pet to the right owner can be more difficult. There is an adoption application that must be completed, reference checks, vet checks, etc., and an adoption fee depending on specific circumstances as well as an adoption contract to protect both the pet and the new owner should for any reason, "things not work out."
Some, but certainly not all of these dogs have various problems often not associated with the normal "house pet" relationship. Some come from cruel, hostile and abusive situations; some are near starving or have other physical problems. They may come to us with broken spirits as well as broken hearts and special dogs like these need special people to care for them.
Fortunately, most others come from loving and caring families who simply find themselves in circumstances where for a variety of reasons they can no longer care for their pets as they would wish.
Our primary goal is to place a dog in the most suitable environment, based on the animal's individual needs and its temperament. The commitment is lifelong and the Boston's interests are always foremost. Each adoption consists of an and an adoption fee. The adoption fee varies from $150 to $400 based strictly on the age of the dog. The adoption fee for Boston-mixes ranges from $150 to $175. Dogs over the age of seven they qualify for our . Adoption fees help partially cover the cost of the medical care we provide for our dogs. The adoption fee is clearly stated in each dog’s online profile. Adoption fees will not be discounted. There are no hidden costs.Do you support our mission? Then we need your help! With veterinary bills in the thousands each month, BTRNC cannot rely solely on adoption fees and fundraisers to make ends meet. We must look to a community of compassionate animal lovers and ask for help. Please make a donation- no amount is too small- and support our mission to make a difference one dog at a time. Donations will be applied to the veterinary fees and medications of the foster dog you choose to sponsor. In the unlikely event that the dog's donations exceed the cost of veterinary care, your donation will be used to help another Boson Terrier in need. All Boston Terrier and Short Nose Rescue of Oklahoma dogs are fully vetted at the time of adoption which includes spay/neuter, all vaccines - Rabies, Bordetella, and DHLP - along with heartworm check and the first month of preventative, and a vet check. Adoption fees vary per dog, but generally range from $200 to $450 depending on age and what vetting the dog required. The adoption fee is on a cash basis, is non-refundable, and is due at the time of the adoption. All adoption agreements state that the dog will be returned to the rescue if the adopter can no longer keep the dog for any reason. We highly recommend allowing at least a month for a dog to adjust; oftentimes settling into a new home can take time and lots and lots of patience.
Since we are run by a group of volunteers who have full-time jobs as well, the application process can take a little while. If you applied and haven't heard back within 3-5 days, please email us or message our Facebook page to inquire! We do our absolute best to work applications as quickly as we can in the order they are received.
