Purina Pro Plan Select Canned Dog Food | Review | Rating | Recalls
Judging by its ingredients alone, Purina Pro Plan Select canned dog food looks like an average wet product.
I have switched my Siberian Husky and Yellow Lab from Science Diet Large Breed, to Purina Pro Plan Select Dry and Canned formulas. I feed the dry and add the wet for a combination meal. The difference is simply amazing. The dogs have come back to life. They are now very active, alert, and very energetic. Their coats are once again shiny with no dry skin. Their activity level and endurance has increased dramatically, and our walks are now very spirited and last much longer without tiring. The Husky was not eating very much with the Science Diet, but now he is an enthusiastic eater and can’t wait for his bowl. I am glad we trashed our Vet’s recommendation of the Science Diet and tried this food. They are now happier, healthier dogs.
I just purchased the Holistic Select and it seemed to be fine if I mixed it with my own home made food, however, yesterday I put down a small bowl of just the Holistic Select and only one of my four Shih tzus ate it and she indeed threw up. What do you recommend for a dog food? I don’t care about the cost. Beth

We have 5 dogs that are part of our family. Red Flannel seemed to have very close to the same nutritional values as what we were using but for less money. After only 10 days of using this dog food 3 out of our 5 dogs were vomiting 3-4 times a day. All of our dogs lost energy and became sluggish. They lost weight and the spark in their eyes became dim. So, we began a research on the ingredients in Red Flannel and we were shocked to find out that it was made of cheap fillers with no nutritional value!! We immediately went back to our previous food and within 24 hrs we could tell a our dogs were getting back to their old spunky selves (no more vomiting). Just thought we would share this with others.Your dog doesn’t need a big appetite to save money on bulk pet food from Dollar General.
